BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS The City of Healdsburg Parks & Recreation Department provides three programs for the before and after school care of students attending Healdsburg schools. These programs are a partnership with Healdsburg Unified School District, ensuring a meaningful connection between the school day and after school curriculum. • The Before School Program, located at the Community Center is for grades K-5. Doors open at 6:30 am for working parents who need a safe, fun place for their children before school begins. Recreation staff provide homework assistance and fun activities for the children who are then transported to the Fitch Mountain and Healdsburg Elementary campus on the school bus at 7:30 to have breakfast at each site. • Kids on Campus, the after school program for grades K-5, operates from the end of the school day to 6:00p.m. The children are bussed to the Community Center at no cost to parents. Attentive staff greet the children upon their arrival and escort them to the classrooms. The daily schedule includes homework assistance, outdoor play, enrichment activities and a nutritional snack. • Club H (Grades 6-8) is located at the Healdsburg Junior High Campus. It begins at the end of the school day and ends at 6:00 pm. Homework assistance, enrichment activities and games/sports activities are provided by a trained staff. Students have the option of walking home with written permission from their parents. Our programs provide students with engaging and constructive activities that are in line with state education standards. Our staff communicates regularly with teachers to ensure that program activities support what the children are learning in school. Classrooms are led by trained staff and overseen by a supervising director who has an M.A. in Early Childhood Education. No Fee Program The After School Safety and Education and the 21st Century grants provide the funds for these services at no charge to the parents. There are attendance requirements of participants that must be followed in order to comply with the grant regulations. These include five days a week attendance for the K-5th graders and a minimum of 3 days a week for the 6th-8th graders. The grants limit the number of children who may be served. Fee-based Program This program offers flexibility in creating an afterschool care program that meets individual families’ needs. Parents are able to choose the days and times of attendance on a pre-arranged basis. Minimum two days per week. Reasonable weekly fee.For more information please contact us at 431-3301.
