Jazz Village & Jazz Village Campus
Sunday, June 2, 2019
Jazz Village (3 p.m. to 5 p.m) is a FREE mini-festival within the Healdsburg Jazz Festival featuring daily music from May 31-June 9. New this year is the Jazz Village Campus (9 a.m. to Noon) from June 3-7; a fun, interactive, music and art experience for children PreK through 5th grade. Students will experience music and literacy performances (bi-lingual), hands-on music making, and learn about the Mississippi Blues from legendary bluesman Guy Davis.
June 3-7 / 9 AM to Noon
Educators, welcome to the new Jazz Village Campus, a place where you can bring your students (PreK-5) to engage in high-quality music learning experiences for FREE! Experience music learning as students rotate between rhythmic activities (25 minutes each) and performances (50 minutes each). Jazz Village Campus workshops are designed by Music Is First musicians/educators who are highly experienced in teaching in public schools as well as being world-class artists, including some who come to perform at the Healdsburg Jazz Festival. These workshops address the VAPA and California Content Standards in music and other academic subject areas such as history, social studies, and literacy. This event also prepares students for future concerts, school assemblies, and music-making activities.
