In 2003 the City joined forces with community volunteers to establish the dog park at the Villa Chanticleer. Since then, community members and City staff have been actively maintaining the park. However, high use, erosion issues, and failing amenities have posed challenges for achieving long-term sustainability.
To address these
issues the City has been collaborating with dog park users on a comprehensive renovation project for the Villa Dog Park. Key features of the renovation project include ADA upgrades, new walkways and shade structure, replacing the dog water stations, and installing site amenities like benches and picnic tables.
Beginning January 29, 2024 the Villa Dog Park will close for the renovation work. City staff will be creating a temporary dog park location at Badger Park that will open on Wednesday, January 31. We anticipate the Villa Dog Park renovation work to take approximately three months to complete, so keep an eye out for a grand reopening in May.
